The courtroom felt cold and sterile, but Ava couldn't help but feel a warmth blossoming inside. She’d received a legal notice that day, stating she had a half-brother. She felt a lightness, a sense of opportunity. A sibling! It was as if a missing piece of her life had been found.

She walked out of the building, and the sun embraced her with a warm hug. She stopped at the cafe. She ordered an extra-large coffee, and sat at a table by the window, eager to begin researching.
