The audacity of it made his head spin. *Train your replacement.* The gall. He felt a wave of icy cold wash over him, followed by a surge of heat. He fought to control his breathing.

He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, then opened them again, fixing his gaze on the pristine white walls of his cubicle. They seemed to mock him with their bland neutrality.

The new woman, named Susan, arrived with a wide smile and a notebook. He forced a smile in return, but his voice was flat as he began the explanation. He made sure to leave out the shortcuts and the helpful tricks he had learned over the years.
