The silence in the workshop was oppressive. Leo scanned the empty workbench, his tools still laid out, awaiting the guidance of Master Carpenter Davies. A hand-written sign, poorly done, was the only indication of the man's departure: “Gone to the mountains. You’ll figure it out.” He wanted to throw something, smash something. The lack of respect, the casual dismissal… He felt a sudden, hot flush creep up his neck. His mentor was his life, the only thing he had. He wanted to scream.
