“Unbelievable!” David’s voice boomed, rattling the teacups on the kitchen table. He was pacing back and forth, his steps quick and agitated. He’d meticulously prepped for the interview, researched the company, practiced his responses. And what did it get him? Nothing. Liam, the charmer, the smooth-talker, got the job.

He grabbed a sugar packet and ripped it open, spilling the contents across the table. His chest felt constricted, as if a weight were pressing down on him. He felt like shouting, screaming at the injustice of it all.
