He stared at the job posting online, his vision blurring. The words swam before his eyes. It listed the new hire’s name. "Congratulations, Emily..." The fury built within him, a slow burn that threatened to consume him. He’d gone above and beyond, putting in the extra hours, staying late to complete projects. And for nothing.

He slammed his fist on his desk, the impact sending a tremor through the old wood. He felt a tremor through his bones. The injustice of it all made his blood boil. He wanted to break something, to yell, to just… disappear.
