"Remember that concert?" Alex was saying, a nostalgic smile playing on her lips. "The music was incredible, and the atmosphere was electric!" Her description of the event felt like a slap in the face to Ben.

He slammed his fist on the table, making the glasses jump. His vision clouded. He remembered the crushing crowds, the terrible sound quality, and the fight that had broken out right in front of them. It felt as if he was being gaslighted.

“You’re wrong!” he said, his voice a low growl. Alex just rolled her eyes, as if his memory was faulty. The audacity of it all was almost unbearable.
