He walked into the living room, ready to make dinner, to watch the game. His husband, Ben, was sitting on the couch, watching a telenovela, subtitles blazing across the screen. Spanish. Ben, who had always hated subtitles.

A wave of heat washed over him. He felt as though someone had punched him in the stomach. He knew, he just *knew*, that this was more than just a passing interest.

He stood there, frozen. His hands were clenched at his sides. He had to force himself to speak, the words coming out as a strained whisper: “What… what is this?” He felt utterly and completely defeated.
