The air thickened around Mark. He felt a cold dread descend upon him, a chilling premonition. The bear, his childhood protector, was here, vulnerable and exposed. *Abandoned.*

He noticed the price tag: "$2." A mere two dollars! He walked towards the woman, trying to keep his composure, but his legs felt like lead. He had to have him back.

“I… I’ll take him,” he managed to say, his voice strained. The woman, with a bored expression, simply nodded and waited for the payment. Mark handed over the money, his fingers fumbling with the bills. He clutched the bear close.
