The email notification on Martha's phone had her heart hammering against her ribs. She tapped it, her thumb trembling slightly. Inside, a glowing review of “Seraphina’s Secret Chocolate Cake.” The photo, the description… it was her Aunt Millie’s recipe, the one she'd inherited and perfected.

Her breath hitched. She felt a burning sensation in her chest, a tightly coiled spring of resentment. She reread the words, each sentence a stab.
