He felt his pulse hammering against his ribs. It was happening again. Mark dropped the newspaper he’d been trying to read, the pages scattering across the living room floor. That stupid dog, that canine Houdini, was back.

He stormed outside, hands clenched into fists. His face was flushed. The offending beagle was currently using his prize-winning petunias as a toilet.

“That’s it!” he roared, the words exploding from his chest. "I am going to have words with that lazy… that OWNER!" He pointed a shaking finger at the dog, which promptly began to bark, a high-pitched, mocking sound. He felt a throbbing ache in his temples.
