The email was drafted, the complaint letter almost complete. Every muscle in Ben's body was tense. He kept re-reading the last sentence, making sure it captured the correct tone of… displeasure.

The dog, a perpetually confused-looking Jack Russell, was currently sprawled across his porch furniture. The dog was happily chewing on one of his expensive cushions. The sight caused a knot in Ben's stomach to tighten.

He considered yelling, but knew that wouldn't achieve anything. He thought about calling the owner, but the prospect made him feel… unwell. He felt a cold dread creeping into his bones.
