"This can't be happening," Marcus muttered, his voice barely a whisper. He reread the letter, each word a fresh jab to his gut. The university's financial aid office admitting their error. His meticulously planned future, the one built on the back of this scholarship, was crumbling. He balled his fists, the knuckles turning white. The anger throbbed in his temples, a relentless pulse. He pictured the other student, the one who was supposed to receive the money, and a fierce, unfamiliar resentment flared within him.
