He’d found her, finally, after years of searching. Mark had tracked down Lisa and was ready to share what he'd remembered from their shared childhood. He approached her, a wave of excited anticipation flooding through him. Her reaction, however, was a shock.

“I have no idea who you are,” she'd stated, her voice sharp. “Please leave me alone.”

Mark felt a coldness creep through his veins. The vibrant colors of the street market around him seemed to drain away, leaving a gray, oppressive landscape. The bustling crowds, usually a source of energy, now felt like a suffocating mass. He felt a surge of rage, a desperate desire to lash out, to make her feel the same piercing pain he felt. He took a staggering step backwards, his hand clenched into a fist, his face a mask of barely controlled emotion. He turned and fled, losing himself in the anonymous crowd.
