He found his sculpture, "The Embrace," in the middle of a public park, a cheap, plastic imitation replacing the bronze original. A plaque bearing his name, but a different font, hung beneath it. A family posed for a photo in front of it, smiling.

He felt a hot flush creep up his neck, spreading to his cheeks. His fists clenched involuntarily. He knew the city council had rejected his proposal for a permanent installation, citing budget cuts. This… this was beyond insulting.

His jaw tightened. He wanted to dismantle the entire display, to carry the real statue and destroy it somewhere where no one could find it, where it could at least be safe. He kicked the base of the plastic replica, the flimsy material cracking under his boot. He turned and fled, leaving the smiles and the camera behind.
