The newspaper crinkled in Amelia’s trembling hand. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes, the familiar sting of tears she refused to shed. Her cheeks flushed. The Dean’s words, the official announcement – they were a slap in the face. All the effort, the sleepless nights, the sacrifices… all for nothing.

She ripped the newspaper in half. The sound was harsh, jarring in the quiet library. The students around her glanced up, startled. Amelia didn't care. She felt a surge of defiant anger, a rebellious urge to dismantle the carefully constructed façade of the university administration.

She envisioned the faces of the board members, their smug expressions, the ones who had made this decision. Her fists tightened. How could they do this?
