The discovery felt like an insult. He was a man of meticulous planning, a person who prided himself on control. This time capsule, unearthed during a routine landscaping project, was a chaotic mess. He scanned the contents - a chipped mug, a pack of old baseball cards, a cassette tape with a handwritten label that screamed, "Play Me!"

He felt a tremor run through him. This was not the life he'd meticulously crafted. He didn't listen to this music, he didn't care about these cards. He took a deep breath, fighting the urge to tear the whole thing apart. Instead, he slammed the lid back onto the box with a loud thud. He would burn it.

He strode out of the house. He needed a drink, a stiff one.
