Gemotions

The news arrived in a hurried phone call. A time capsule. His. He had no memory of it. He felt his stomach twist as he approached the table.

He stared at the contents of the box. A photograph of a girl he faintly recognized, a collection of concert tickets, and a letter filled with naive optimism. His chest constricted. He wanted to rewind the clock, to erase this unwanted intrusion into his present.

He grabbed the letter and tore it into tiny pieces. He felt a growing agitation, an anger he couldn't explain. He kicked the table, sending the box flying across the room. He needed to get away from it, from this unwelcome echo of his past.
