The city was a cacophony of noise, sirens wailing in the distance, car horns blaring. Liam felt the pressure of the city pushing down on him. He'd just lost his apartment, and now he was crashing on his sister's couch, the cramped space a constant reminder of his failure. Lily, his niece, was staying over, and her endless energy felt like an amplified version of his own anxiety. He glanced at the drawings Lily had created, featuring a creature with multiple eyes and shimmering scales. "That's Glitterwing," Lily declared, her eyes bright. Liam felt a chill run through him. Glitterwing was the name he had given to his imaginary companion as a child. He abruptly got up and moved towards the window to get some air.
