Gemotions

The email pinged, a tiny, digital stab. David flinched, as if he'd been physically poked. He stared at the screen, the blinking cursor mocking his inactivity. The subject line, "Job Application Update," seemed to scream from the screen. He scrolled through the contents, his stomach churning with each word. The competing candidates, their experience, their achievements – it was all too much. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to flee, to disappear into the anonymity of the crowded street below. He shoved the laptop shut and buried his face in his hands.
