The air in the office was thick with a tension that mirrored the tightness in her chest. Sarah had been trying to focus on her work, but it was impossible. The image of Michael, talking on his phone in the hallway, with a guilty look on his face, kept replaying in her mind. It was a loop she couldn't escape.

She felt a wave of nausea wash over her. Every interaction felt strained. The office felt smaller, the walls closing in. She went to the bathroom, leaned over the sink, breathing deeply.

She spotted Michael’s jacket on the back of the chair, and she found herself reaching into the pockets. Her hands shook as she found a crumpled receipt. She felt a sharp, sudden pain as she read the words.
