Gemotions

"Where is it?" the words escaped her in a strained whisper. Her hands, usually steady, now trembled as she scanned her driveway. Her car was gone. The bills were piling up, the job was demanding, and she was barely holding it all together.

She felt a hollowness in her chest, a vast, empty space where hope used to reside. She needed that car. She needed it to get to work, to run errands, to feel like she had some control.

She backed up against the front door, sliding down until she sat on the step. The cool stone did nothing to soothe the heat that was spreading through her veins. She felt the tears welling up, blurring her vision.
