"This can't be right," I muttered, my voice barely audible. My palms were slick with sweat. The nurse’s reassurances sounded distant, meaningless. I felt a tightening in my chest, a physical manifestation of the dread. My life, my health, suddenly a stranger's. I couldn't comprehend how this was happening.

I wanted to run, to escape the sterile environment, the judging eyes. I wanted to scream, to smash something, to break the suffocating silence. My breath came in shallow, ragged gasps as I stood up, swaying slightly. All I knew was I had to get away, to find a place where this nightmare wasn’t true.
