Gemotions

The sterile white walls of the hospital room seemed to close in on Emily. The doctor's words, a jumble of medical jargon and bad news, echoed in her ears. She felt pinned, trapped, unable to move or think clearly. Her own body felt foreign, the source of unknown threats. She looked at her reflection, a stranger stared back.

She rose from the examination table, her knees threatening to buckle. She had to get out, to breathe. She moved slowly, carefully, like a wounded animal. Each step was a battle. She needed the comfort of something familiar, she just couldn't think what it was.
