The coffee cup trembled in his hand, threatening to spill. He hadn't slept properly in days, and now this. His shoulders slumped, the weight of the world suddenly pressing down on him. The offending article, his article, sat on the screen, a monument to his creative effort… falsely credited.

He tried to focus, to think clearly, to formulate a response. But the thoughts spun around in his head, a chaotic carousel. His chest felt constricted; it was difficult to breathe. He threw the phone onto the couch, the impact barely registering. He just wanted it all to *stop*. He went to the window, staring out at the rain, feeling utterly, completely adrift.
