Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the invitation seemed to jump out at Kevin, assaulting his senses. He flinched, as if physically struck. His hands, usually steady, trembled as he placed the card back on the kitchen table. He felt a wave of dizziness, the room tilting slightly. He sank into a chair, the sudden movement making his head swim.

He ran a hand over his face, trying to ground himself. He needed to compose himself, but the thoughts raced, a whirlwind of anxieties and self-doubt. The dishes waited in the sink, the grocery shopping needed to be done, the report due at the end of the week. Everything pressed down on him with crushing weight.
