He stared at the blueprints, the harsh lines and precise measurements mocking the haphazard beauty of the house he knew. Every room, every wall, every window was a meticulously planned destruction. His jaw was clenched, his teeth grinding. He couldn’t seem to stop the tremor in his hands.

He'd spent his whole life within those walls. The echoes of his childhood seemed to reverberate in his mind, a constant, dizzying soundtrack. He pictured his father's workshop, the scent of sawdust, the endless projects. All of it – gone.

He flung the blueprints across the table. They scattered like fallen leaves. He wanted to scream, to rage, to fight back against this predetermined end. But all that came out was a strangled sigh.
