David felt a prickling sensation on his skin as he read the notification. Mrs. Rodriguez, his science teacher, was following him on Snapchat. He’d never even considered what she might think of his stories. He'd posted a few goofy videos of his friends, and some silly memes.

He felt the walls of his tiny apartment shrinking. The upcoming chemistry test, the looming deadline for his college applications, and the constant financial worries all combined to create a sense of being squeezed. He felt lightheaded.

He let out a shaky breath, feeling the need to run and scream. He closed his phone and looked out the window. The city seemed so loud.
