Gemotions

The phone rang again, shattering the fragile quiet. She let it go to voicemail. Every muscle in her body ached. She sat in the rocking chair, her gaze fixed on the sunset bleeding across the sky, a beautiful, impossible scene. She pulled an old shoebox from under the bed. The contents were familiar, photographs, dried flowers, a faded prom ticket. And, at the very bottom, a letter. Her heart began to pound when she saw her own handwriting, addressing someone she'd lost long ago: "I feel like I'm being pulled in a million directions..."
