The flickering fluorescent lights of the office seemed to pulse in time with Amelia's racing heart. She hunched over her desk, the mountain of paperwork feeling heavier than usual. Her fingers, slick with nervous sweat, fumbled with her phone. She needed to quickly confirm the venue for the gala. Tap, tap, tap. She typed a message to the event planner. "Just finalizing the location. Ready to confirm?" Her thumb hovered over the send button. Without a second thought, her finger pressed down. A moment later, a small “delivered” notification popped up. Then a reply. "Confirmed. Dinner and a movie are on!" Amelia felt her stomach drop.
