Rain lashed against the car windows, mirroring the storm brewing inside her. The traffic was bumper to bumper and the radio blared a song she hated. She gripped the steering wheel, knuckles white. She was running late for her sister’s baby shower, late for a project at work, and the grocery shopping was still untouched. Her phone beeped; a text message, she ignored it. Another one. She sighed and pulled over, finally looking. It was for her boss, a sarcastic reply regarding the late project. "On my way. Going at my best pace." She had not been aware she sent it to her friend.
