He stared at the fallen elm, its massive trunk blocking the driveway. The wind still howled, mocking the chaos. “Fantastic,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair. His fingers found more gray than he remembered.

His mind raced, a frantic carousel of things he needed to do. The insurance company. The landlord. His son's baseball game was today. He hadn't even showered yet.

A headache began to pulse behind his eyes. He squeezed them shut, wishing he could just make it all disappear. The feeling was a solid brick in his gut.
