Gemotions

The relentless thrum of the city outside seemed to amplify inside the shop. He couldn't stand still. He paced the narrow aisle, bumping into display cases and muttering apologies. His vision was tunneling, focusing only on the distant gleam of the jewelry cases.

He approached the counter, and the owner, a young man with multiple piercings, raised an eyebrow. He pointed to the photograph he held. He was unable to form the words, they were caught in the vise of his jaw.

The young man seemed to sense his distress. He gestured towards a cabinet. The suspense was unbearable. He knew, in his gut, that it would be there.
