Gemotions

The wind howled outside, mirroring the storm brewing inside her. She stared out the window, watching the rain lash against the glass. Her partner, Thomas, was still gone. She had heard him on the phone, again, as he said that he was going to the gym.

She picked at the corner of the tablecloth, her fingers tracing the floral pattern. Every shadow seemed to twist into something sinister. She felt a sudden, desperate urge to flee, to run away.

She took a deep breath, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill. The house felt like a cage.
