"The project management team is really looking forward to your contributions," said the manager, the words a hollow echo in her ears. She looked at the diagrams and the graphs, and everything seemed to blur.

Her role was logistics. Her strength was organizing, not leading. She envisioned the relentless deadlines, the high-pressure meetings, the responsibility. She could not handle it.

Her breath came in shallow, ragged gasps. She clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white. The words, the faces, the expectation – it was all too much.

She needed to sit down. Now. She felt like she might faint.
