Gemotions

"Unbelievable," Clara muttered, her voice barely audible. She stared at the document, a spreadsheet accidentally left open on her supervisor's computer. Sarah, her peer, was making more. More than her. A coldness spread through her limbs.

She quickly closed the laptop, a surge of adrenaline coursing through her. She felt a desperate need to escape, to breathe fresh air. She grabbed her bag and coat, her movements jerky and uncoordinated.

As she rushed out of the building, the city lights blurred before her eyes. The sound of the traffic, normally a familiar background noise, was suddenly deafening. She walked aimlessly, the feeling of being cheated a heavy weight on her shoulders. Her breath came in short, shallow gasps. She had to think, she had to find a solution, but the thoughts raced chaotically in her mind.
