"Hello?" Leo's voice cracked. He'd been renovating the kitchen, and a particularly stubborn section of plaster had finally given way. He thought he'd heard a noise: a clatter.

Behind the plaster, there wasn’t a wall. Instead, there was a doorway. He shone his phone's light into the opening, seeing a small room. It looked like a study, filled with cobwebs and forgotten furniture. He could feel the blood rushing in his ears.

He cautiously stepped inside, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn't want to be here. He really didn't. Each footstep sent a cloud of dust into the air. He felt a prickly sensation crawl up his spine.
