Gemotions

He was alone, late at night, in a house he barely knew. He was painting the living room and had heard a strange noise, a clicking sound from behind the fireplace. He'd hammered and plastered the walls himself, so he knew they were hollow.

He started chipping away at the bricks with a screwdriver. Eventually, a whole section gave way, revealing a rectangular opening. His hands shook as he reached for his phone's flashlight.

The flashlight beam revealed a small room. The room was empty. But it wasn’t the emptiness that unnerved him, but the faint scent of lilies and the oppressive silence. He felt as if something was breathing down his neck.
