Gemotions

The lawyer had warned her this would be difficult. He hadn't understood. She felt a knot in her stomach, a physical manifestation of her discomfort. She gripped the fence, the rusty metal cold and unyielding.

She saw the workers, their faces impassive, going about their task. She heard the crunch of their boots on the gravel, the metallic clang of their tools. The house was already starting to crumble.

She ran her hand through her hair, over and over, trying to soothe the agitation. She felt a frantic need to rewind time, to stop the inevitable. She bit her lip until it bled.
