Gemotions

The world seemed to shrink around Sarah, the walls of her small apartment closing in. She felt a pressure building behind her eyes, a dull ache throbbing in time with her racing pulse. She grabbed a coffee mug, fingers fumbling with it as she poured some water to drink. The water sloshed, spilling over the side. The screen showing the competing patent felt like a burning brand. She slammed her laptop shut. The noise echoed in the small space. She began to walk in circles, clutching her head and breathing in short, sharp gasps, like a fish out of water.
