The world seemed to shrink around Sarah. The notification on her phone, a curtly worded message from the university, had shattered her fragile composure. "In regard to your…scholarship…" It was a mistake. They were withdrawing the funds. Her mind raced, a runaway train. She clutched the phone so tightly her knuckles whitened.

Her breath came in shallow, rapid gasps. The tuition bill loomed, a monstrous threat. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes, the familiar sting of tears threatening to spill. Every detail of her day blurred together, the bright, sunny hallway suddenly became a trap.

She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. She stumbled back, hitting the wall. She closed her eyes, fighting the urge to crumble. She must not show weakness. She has to find a way.

She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. This felt like the end, the ultimate betrayal. The thought of failure throbbed in her head, a persistent, relentless ache.
