He stared at the letter, its crisp paper a stark contrast to the chaos swirling inside him. The letter, a declaration of love to his best friend's wife. He felt as though someone had punched him in the stomach. He had buried those emotions long ago.

His jaw tightened. He wanted to rip it to shreds, to erase the words, to undo the past. But his hands were frozen. The thought of that letter falling into the wrong hands made him feel ill. He was sweating.
