Gemotions

I felt a cold rush, as if ice water had been poured down my spine. The words blurred on the screen, but the message was clear: "Acquisition." My carefully constructed world, built brick by brick over the last five years, seemed to be crumbling.

My hands felt clammy, and a bead of sweat trickled down the side of my face. I struggled to remain seated, fighting the urge to leap up and run. The office noise, the keyboards clicking, the phones ringing, all grated on my nerves.

My vision began to tunnel, focusing solely on the exit sign. I grabbed my things and practically ran. I needed to get away, to disappear. I had to think.
