Gemotions

The email arrived at 2:00 am, a digital stab in the heart. Alex saw that Dr. Olsen was leaving, and the world seemed to tilt. He sat up in bed, his heart thudding in his chest. He felt a sudden, profound sense of isolation.

He got out of bed, unable to lie still. He wandered through his apartment, the dim light casting long shadows. He felt a tightness in his throat, a struggle to swallow. This was a nightmare, and he couldn't wake up.

He moved to the window and stared out at the city. The lights of the buildings seemed far away, cold and uncaring. He felt a surge of energy and ran to his desk, grabbing the pen and notebook and began to sketch ideas. He had to think of a plan.
