Gemotions

The rhythmic click-clack of the loom echoed in David's ears. It was his daughter, Lily, weaving again. He’d taught her the basics of tapestry weaving, a skill he’d devoted years to mastering. Now, Lily was producing complex, vibrant pieces, far exceeding his own abilities. He found himself unable to breathe comfortably.

He watched her, his fingers clenching and unclenching. He remembered all the hours he'd lost to the loom, the social events missed, the relationships he'd damaged.

"Lily, why don't you take a break? Your eyes must be tired." David’s voice sounded thin, almost a whisper.

Lily didn't respond, her hands moving with an almost feverish speed. He had to stop this somehow. He needed to get out. He backed out of the room, as if trying to hide.
