Gemotions

The scent of pipe tobacco hung in the air, a familiar aroma that once brought comfort to John. Now, as he watched his son, Thomas, meticulously packing a pipe with the finest blend, it brought something else: A feeling of dread. John had enjoyed pipe smoking as a way to slow down and relax.

Thomas had adopted his father’s habit, but not in the same way. Thomas had immersed himself in the culture of pipe smoking, collecting rare pipes and experimenting with a multitude of tobacco blends. He'd become utterly consumed.

"Thomas, are you sure you want another bowl?" John asked, his voice strained. He felt like he was suffocating.

Thomas looked up, his eyes bright with excitement. "Absolutely, Dad." John abruptly excused himself.
