The gallery buzzed with chatter, but for Clara, the world had gone silent. Her paintings, her life’s work, were hanging next to someone else's… nearly identical. A cold dread crept through her, freezing her to the core. Her carefully chosen color palette, the brushstrokes she’d perfected over years, the concept, all had been reproduced.

She felt a wave of dizziness, and she instinctively reached for the nearby wall for support. Her fingers trembled as she touched the cold surface. The gallery owner approached, his face a picture of awkwardness, and tried to speak. The words seemed to become lost in the ether.

She wanted to run, to escape the unbearable reality. The recognition, the validation, the exhibition itself... all of it was a lie. Her vision blurred, and the gallery lights seemed to pulsate, mocking her with their brilliance. The dream was over.
