The note, tucked under her windshield wiper, was a crimson threat. She ripped it open, her fingers trembling. "Please keep the noise down," it demanded, scrawled in angry black ink. The implications flooded her mind.

She jumped out of the car, slamming the door. The sound echoed in the empty street, amplifying the silence. Her vision swam. She turned to face her apartment building, suddenly noticing how close the other units were to hers.

She ran her hand over her face, checking for any trace of tears. She had to fix this. Immediately. The music had to stop.
