Gemotions

"Are you sure there wasn't a card?" Amelia asked, her voice tight and high-pitched. The delivery man, a kid with a bored expression, just shrugged and offered the bouquet of sunflowers. She stared at the cheerful yellow faces, their vibrant glow mocking her. The silence in her apartment was deafening, the air heavy with unspoken questions.

She paced the length of her living room, her steps quick and uneven. Each time she passed the table, she glared at the cheerful arrangement. Where did they come from? Who sent them? She felt a desperate urgency building inside of her; a kind of pressure that was almost physical. She grabbed her phone, scrolling through messages, searching for some kind of clue.
