The letter, addressed to herself, was the first thing to spill out of the time capsule. Her breath hitched. Her vision swam as the script swam before her eyes. It was her handwriting, the looping letters instantly recognizable, yet the words… The words were a stranger’s confession. She felt a growing pressure in her chest.

She read the words, and they were unsettling. An apology, a confession, a plea for forgiveness. All from her, but about events she didn't recall. She felt an almost physical pressure to escape, to run, but her feet were rooted to the spot. Her throat closed.

She scanned the scene, the forest now appeared threatening. The trees seemed to lean in, as if eavesdropping on her torment. She wanted to scream.
