Gemotions

The paper felt like ice in Michael’s hand. "Go to space," "Write a song," "Run a marathon." These dreams were from Laura, his pragmatic, practical Laura. He felt a rush of heat, and his chest felt tight, constricted. A tremor ran through him.

He slammed the list onto the table, the sound echoing in the silent room. He felt a sudden, overwhelming urge to shout, to rail against the injustice of it all. The world seemed to tilt on its axis. He stumbled to the window, needing air.

He looked out at the street below, the cars moving like tiny insects. He felt a wave of nausea. He took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure, but his heart wouldn't slow down. He felt utterly and completely lost.
